1969-1970’s

Soule Steel Company introduces multiple new products and services, cementing its place as one of the leading steel companies of the Western United States. Despite inflation and the high cost of scrap steel, profits more than triple in the 1970’s.

  • Both a new office and plant are opened in Sacramento.

  • Soule Steel Company ventures into the transportation business.

  • Pico Safe Stairs Company is introduced to the market, distributing fabricated steel stairs in six Western states.

  • Stanley (Sandy) Soule Jr., future founder of Soule Software, graduates from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Electrical Engineering after studying the new field of computer programming.

  • Sandy serves in the United States Air Force, advising senior leadership on cutting-edge satellite and communication technologies.

  • Soule Steel continues to expand into international markets, including a venture in Saudi Arabia.
  • In 1977, Sandy Soule becomes the manager of Steel Mill Operations. He designs many of the IT systems the company uses to track production, contracts, inventory, and billing.

  • In 1978, the Soule Steel Company moves its headquarters to Walnut Creek, CA.
